Remember local readers, CineVegas is June 10-15! Wanna stalk me? Here’s my viewing schedule.

Zenonia

Here’s a peak at Zenonia, an RPG heading towards the iPhone anytime now. Really looking forward to playing a game on the platform with some meat on it.

From Crispy Gamer (good stuff lately, guys!), Press Pass: Blogging by the Numbers.

Oh, and my first post on the Jet Set Games blog went up last week: Living in Las Vegas. Come work with us!

Insomniac Cinema

March 18th, 2009

Not the name I would’ve chosen for a series that takes place in the early evening, but whatever, it’s interesting local film happenings, and offStrip at that!

Tropicana Cinemas, a local movie house that at one time or another has been an arthouse theater, a budget theater, a latino theater, and most recently a budget theater again, has begun a series called Insomniac Cinema, where they’ll be screening classic (defined loosely) movies every Wednesday at 7:30pm. Here’s the list of upcoming shows:

3/18/2009 – Robocop

3/25/2009 – The Godfather

4/01/2009 – The Goonies

4/08/2009 – Space Balls

4/15/2009 – Raiders of the Lost Ark

4/22/2009 – Ghostbusters

4/29/2009 – Psycho

5/06/2009 – The Warriors

5/13/2009 – Moulin Rouge

5/20/2009 – The Big Lebowski

5/27/2009 – Labyrinth

Last time I chatted with the owner, he was looking into picking up a liquor license and building one of the theaters into a lounge. Might make for a fun Alamoesque sort of setting if he can bring the filmgoers out.

Tropicana Cinemas is located on Tropicana and Pecos, sharing a strip mall with the Pinball Hall of Fame, a bar, and a comic book store. Nice lil geek-friendly corner, at least until the PHoF moves up the street later this spring.

A Wii Ware Cave Story makes me very happy, because a) it’s a wonderful game, and b) I’ll have a reason to turn on the Wii again. More details here.

Danc’s Rules of Productivity. Good stuff as usual from Lost Garden.

Here’s a tiny pinch of TR2N info from AICN. You know those Star Wars geeks that lined up for Phantom Menace like two weeks before the movie started? Yeah, I’d be that guy with this one, if it weren’t for the whole job thing.

Guinsoo, the creator of DotA-Allstars, is entering the commercial game arena with League of Legends. This is gonna be huge.

Tarantino’s Mind, a short film in which our protagonist reveals his insight into the movies of Quentin Tarantino.

The guys at Siliconera scanned the Mirror’s Edge comic that’s a Comic-Con giveaway from EA. Interesting aside, both the comic and game narrative are being penned by Rhianna Pratchett, Terry Pratchett’s daughter.

A conversation with Michael B. Johnson of Pixar, and, referenced in that conversation, an excellent interview Brad Bird did with McKinsey earlier this year. Our industry could learn a lot from these two guys.
