Crestfallen, I returned the thing to Home Depot and walked out with a shiny new DeWalt, which apparently the internet <a href=\"http:\/\/www.amazon.com\/gp\/product\/B0006FIOE8\/ref=cm_cr_pr_product_top\">doesn&#8217;t really like either<\/a>. Maybe the internet just hates jigsaws in general, because it worked out fine enough for me.<\/p>\n<p>Using the originals as rough templates, I cut out a new upper and lower door, followed by screen vents and holes for a key-matched set of replacement locks.<\/p>\n<p>Thankfully, bondo heals all wounds.<\/p>\n<p><img decoding=\"async\" src=\"http:\/\/farm4.static.flickr.com\/3264\/2827230708_be4a2d99e8.jpg\" alt=\"Doors take shape.\" \/><\/p>\n<p>After a bit of sanding and painting (Rustoleum satin black)&#8230;<\/p>\n<p><img decoding=\"async\" src=\"http:\/\/farm4.static.flickr.com\/3085\/2826393569_1976939952.jpg\" alt=\"painted doors\" \/><\/p>\n<p>&#8230;and on the cabinet, with new locks and freshly painted screens:<\/p>\n<p><img decoding=\"async\" src=\"http:\/\/farm4.static.flickr.com\/3239\/2826394565_d24d36717e.jpg\" alt=\"new doors\" \/><\/p>\n<p>Next up, transferring the guts.<\/p>\n<p><img decoding=\"async\" src=\"http:\/\/farm4.static.flickr.com\/3052\/2827235422_c6efa9c21e.jpg\" alt=\"transferring Tron guts\" \/><\/p>\n<p>The old piece of plywood that everything was originally mounted on had seen better days, and as I had new plywood to spare, it was a simple process to cut a new piece and move everything over (after taking several photos just to be sure the right bits stayed connected to the right bits).
